THE
FOLLOWING members have responsibilities to the Choir for our singing
music and choir organisation. Please feel free to contact any of the listed
persons for a concert booking. Your request will be put to the choir members at
the next weekly meeting, and hopefully a response can be given within two
working weeks. We are very democratic!

THE
CHOIR IS DELIGHTED that Mrs Janet Downing has agreed to be our Music
Director and Conductor. Janet has been with the Choir from its foundation,
and understands us all very well, so we anticipate great things for the future.
Janet has already proved her ability to give sustained and patient effort on our
behalf, and so when Margaret Ward retired to Australia, we felt very pleased
that Janet wished to take on the endeavour needed to fill this post with such
enthusiasm.
WE
REALISE that Janet's approach will be very different from that adopted by
Margaret Ward, our previous conductor, but with
her teaching background, it is already obvious that she knows how to knock us
into shape. We all recognise the tremendous effort required to attend week after
week for practice nights, and with this in mind have agreed to practice night
being restricted to every second week throughout May, June and July.
WE
HAVE been equally lucky to engage the services of John Clarke as our
Piano Accompanist, who spent thirty years of his life teaching music at various
city High Schools before retiring in 1991. He is also the Choir Master at St.
John the Baptist church in Wetley Rocks and accompanies his son, Justin, when he
has any singing engagements. His skills and strengths are already coming to the
fore, and we look forward to a lasting relationship. (Sorry about the picture
quality, John. We will do better next time!)
